A Short Guide on Spiritual Counselling - Here's How It Helps!

Here at the Holistic Healing College, we teach Spiritual Counselling, but what do we mean by this and
how does it differ from other types of counselling?

‘Spiritual’ by definition is something which is related to the human spirit or soul, that part of us that
is shaped and affected by our life experiences and perhaps something more intangible that we
innately sense but find more difficult to describe.

What Is Spiritual Counselling?

Our soul, our very essence, dictates our behaviours, our triggers, our emotions and our actions. It
holds past experiences from previous incarnations and gives us the potential to face future paths.
Spiritual counselling goes far deeper than the traditional mind or talking cures, as we focus healing
on the soul and spirit beneath.

When we feel the call to see a spiritual counsellor, we might feel a block, an element of dis-ease,
which could be caused by unresolved emotions or stagnant energies.

A spiritual counsellor will compassionately identify where the client is holding unconscious blocks,
negative energy or emotions, limiting beliefs or trauma from the past that is still present and
affecting them.

The Benefits of Becoming A Spiritual Counsellor

A variety of techniques will be available to the trained practitioner to introduce to the client,
depending on the nature of their block and how this is preventing them from moving forwards.
Counselling and listening are always at the forefront of this approach as it is always healing for the
client to express what they have been experiencing but unlike the conventional approach the
Spiritual Counsellor will work in an eclectic manner, utilising a range of interventions. These could
include for example energy psychology to address fears and phobias, hypnotherapy to engage the
the unconscious mind and reset to a more positive mindset, forgiveness practises to foster deeper self
acceptance and self-love and additionally whatever strategies will most suit that client …. at that
time in their life and spiritual journey.

Spiritual Counselling Sessions - How It Works

Our Soul Plan modality can also help the client to activate and discover their life purpose as well as
work through their challenges, using their talents to achieve goals and work towards their life
purpose or Soul Destiny. This works very well in conjunction with Life Coaching which is also a tool
that might be another intervention which will be appropriate for some (but not all) clients.

Chi-Kung, Parts Work, Practical Mindfulness, Loss and Grief work, Relationship Counselling, Extra
Sensory work – these and many more are included under the capabilities of a qualified spiritual
counsellor, having completed our diploma in spiritual counselling.

The practise goes deeper than surface level, tapping into the very ingredients that make us who we
are, ensuring integration where we are disconnected, wholeness where we feel pulled apart and
focus when we are lost.

Spiritual counselling brings a deeper understanding of who we are, what causes us to react and feel
a certain way and what we can do to eradicate triggers and maintain balance.

It brings healing at a deep level, which can be long-lasting and definitive, ensuring we do not repeat
patterns or revisit adopted beliefs that bring negativity.

Spiritual counselling provides the deep-clean we need occasionally, to clear the channels and
address the blocks and discover the potential we hold within us.
