Astrology for Counsellors – Analysis of a Birth Chart

As a part of our spiritual counselling diploma, we believe in the importance of including a range of
tools, to enable a practitioner to provide a wide and diverse number of interventions and
opportunities to their client.
One recent addition to our students (future Counsellors) toolkit is the art of reading an astrological
birth chart.

In its simplest terms, we are all aware of the effects of the Moon on the energies and emotions of
living beings. The same can be said of all of the celestial bodies and your birth chart will provide that
snap-shot of the heavens from the time and place you were born.
The relationships (aspects) between these can then be interpreted, bringing forth the challenging
and beneficial connections, enabling the practitioner to offer a route through the ups and downs
that life presents.
Each birth, or natal, chart is divided into twelve sections, each there to address an aspect of our life,
from our persona to our relationships, our creativity to our spirituality, our education to our sense of
community.
The influence of the planets and placement of the signs of the zodiac will provide the detail required,
ensuring that every birth chart is unique to the client.
From a counselling perspective, a chart can bring reassurance, explaining why the client reacts or
emotes in a certain way.
It can be healing, by verbalising those areas requiring support and working on the tools that can be
used to manage challenges and enhance strengths.
analysing and bringing our understanding to a deeper level, we are naturally opening the gates of
healing and becoming more aware of our potential.
It will reveal the sign you portray to the outside world, and that which is innately ‘you’. You will
discover the importance of the planets in your life and which are more influential than others.

differ, what will make us retreat and what will encourage and nurture motivation.
