Why Teacher Led Training Will Make You a Better Spiritual Counsellor
21st July 2022
When first looking for a course of any type, we need to consider how we best learn. What is our ‘style’ and when are we the most receptive?
The Holistic Healing College favours the ‘live’ experience, to teach our range of certificate and diploma courses.
Self-study, with no ‘live’ input, with the exception of perhaps a little tutor support, either by email or telephone, will not match the professional and in-depth training criteria that your future clients will expect. It also lacks the experiential, personal element that is so important to achieving a course of study, such as our Spiritual Counselling Diploma.
So why do many wider bodies and insurance companies require that you have experienced live training with monitored peer practise.
Firstly, your needs are met immediately.
Any questions that you may have and any clarification of salient points can be covered straight away. When you are struggling or feel blocked the encouragement of your fellow students and the support of the tutor will help you through.
You will also have the opportunity to learn in a focused space, all attending for a common goal. This engages us more quickly, motivates us to be in an environment of common interest and naturally gives us the opportunity to share ideas with like-minded people.
The experiential aspects of in-person or ‘live’ Zoom classes reinforce the techniques and skills being covered, giving each student the chance to put these into practise and start the process of self-assessment.
Doing this in the safe space provided, gives all of our students the opportunity to ‘try’ and give them an idea of how the ‘real-time’ professional counselling sessions will work.
For many, this leads to the forging of friendships and/or closer student ties, which can then continue to build on this environment of trust, reassuring and supporting each other through further practise and discussion.
The importance of student interaction cannot be overestimated, as even the seemingly throwaway comment can lead to new lines of thought and inspiration within a group setting.
We are all aware of the importance of a kitchen setting when at a party, the same could be said of the tea urn, or break-out rooms when studying. Some of the most interesting and insightful conversations will take place there.
Many of the students who complete their courses with us express their regret at finishing their studies, as they enjoyed the class settings and the supportive environment that we achieve, whether in-person or via Zoom class. However, they invariably have met like-minded souls and made friends for life!
So, whether you favour in-person or our remote Zoom classes, this type of live learning forms the cornerstone and bulk of your learning experience with us and this will be reflected in your qualifications for our certificate and diploma courses. Our results speak volumes and our global cohort of students and graduates speak for us too.
